Let’s face it: Dating is hard!
For many neurodivergent teens and adults, dating doesn’t come easily. There may be many barriers to dating for people with disabilities, including:
Limited opportunities for meeting people
Anxiety around meeting new people
History of bullying and exclusion making it hard to connect with others
Limited education about what a good relationship really looks and feels like
Lack of sex education
How we can help
Tired of always having to mask your neurodivergence on a date? Is loneliness making it harder to do the things you want to do? At Heart, we provide education on a variety of topics, all in a neurodivergent affirmative way. That means we don’t encourage masking, we don’t teach social skills, and we don’t tell anyone what they can or can’t do when it comes to dating and sex. We can talk about your goals, values, and the barriers to dating to help you identify plans that work for you. This can include education on topics such as:
Figuring out your relationship goals and values
Understanding abusive behavior and what to do
Online dating safety
Assertiveness skills
Consent
Sexual health and anatomy
Group education
Currently our educational services are only offered in group format. Check out our events page or sign up for our newsletter to find out when workshops and events are happening!
Funding
Funding for groups can be provided by Wisconsin County CLTS for kids and teens, IRIS, Inclusa, and Lakeland Care if you are in Wisconsin with long term services. We also accept private pay.
